Frequently Asked Questions
How do Dental Implants work?
Dental Implants are a permanent solution for missing teeth. A titanium screw, known as the implant, is surgically placed in your jawbone. Restorations (dentures, bridges, or crowns) are then placed on top giving you teeth that look and feel just like natural teeth.
What are the benefits of Dental Implants?
- They look and behave like natural teeth which makes them aesthetically pleasing and fully functional.
- Dental Implants won’t limit what you eat. As they behave just like natural teeth, there are no limitations on what you can eat.
- Dental Implants can support your facial structure and prevent a lot of problems associated with missing teeth including bone loss and gum disease.
What are my options for Dental Implants?
We offer a range of Dental Implant treatments including Single Tooth Implants, Implant Retained Dentures, Implant Retained Bridges and All on 4 Dental Implants. Get in touch for a Free Consultation to find out which might be suitable for you.
Am i suitable for Dental Implants?
Most adults are suitable for Dental Implants. There are, however, certain conditions which may be a risk factor for the outcome of the treatment. In a lot of these cases, the patient might still be suitable for the treatment. A complete evaluation for your oral health and suitability will be done during your clinical assessment with our Implant dentist.
What happens at the Free Consultation?
Your initial consultation is a chance for us to get to know you. Replacing a missing tooth or teeth is significant life event and we always wish to know what your expectations of treatment are so we can provide you with all the relevant information regarding the range of treatment options available and answer any questions you may have.
What happens at the Clinical Assessment?
During the Clinical Assessment, the Implant Dentist will carry out a thorough examination and assess which treatment options might be suitable for you. Based on that, he will make a tailored treatment plan. Diagnostic information like X-rays, photographs and dental impressions are taken during this stage.
What happens after the Clinical Assessment?
- After your case has been thoroughly planned, we can move on by surgically placing the implant directly into your jawbone, under anaesthetic alone, or in conjunction with sedation, which can be extremely beneficial for nervous patients. Over a period of 6-8 weeks, the implant will fuse with your jawbone, which is encouraged to grow around the implant and accept it as a healthy and natural part of the body.
- Once this process is complete and the area has healed, we can attach the abutment, a connective element that will secure your restoration (dentures, bridges or a crown) in place, so you can eat and smile as normal.
- We will fit your restoration in place and make minor adjustments. You will be provided with aftercare guidance, allowing you to care for your implant, with a view to keeping it in excellent condition for life.
